The airport sits close to town, which surprises people. Ibiza Airport is located about 7km southwest of Ibiza Town, so the drive is short when the roads cooperate. In August they often do not, and that is precisely where local knowledge earns its keep.
Getting from IBZ to the villa without the friction
Most guests are not staying in town. They are heading to a villa in the north near San Juan, a finca above Santa Gertrudis, or a place along the San José coast. The distances look small on a map and behave differently in traffic. Es Canar sits roughly 27km from the airport, and in peak week that stretch can take far longer than the number suggests.
Villa arrivals also come with their own quirks: dirt access tracks, gates with no signage, entrances that navigation apps place in the wrong field.
